Tribute Paid for Role In Tribute '08

On Monday 18 August organisers of the Tribute '08 - a commemoration reunion for New Zealand Veterans of the Vietnam War - visited the American Embassy where they joined Ambassador McCormick's birthday celebration with embassy staff. However, the main reason they had come to the Embassy was to present the Ambassador a letter for forwarding to Senator John McCain.

The letter thanked the Senator for sending his warm wishes, via Ambassador McCormick, to the New Zealand veterans who gathered in Wellington, for Tribute '08, on the weekend of 30 May.

Chairman of the Tribute '08 organizing committee, Lieutenant Colonel Chris Mullane (NZ Army, Retired), explained to Ambassador McCormick and staff how much Senator McCain's letter had personally meant to the NZ veterans who hold him in such high regard. He presented the Ambassador with a letter of thanks which will be sent to Senator McCain.
